ok i need to know these:
*how to find out how much PH is in my tank…what tool? where to buy it?
*how to lower & up PH…where to get these items
*what does too much or too less PH do?
Bettas prefer more of a neutral, maybe slightly soft pH value, so you’re looking at 7 - 6.8. I’ve never tested my betta’s water, and I’ve never had a problem - if you’re using tap water, you can be fairly sure it’s fine. However, if you’re using well water or something or you’re concerned about the level in your water, you can buy pH test kits at any pet store. Get the drops if you can - strips can be innacurate. If you’re water is slightly hard, you can soften it by adding some Black Water Extract - it adds tannins and trace elements to the water that help mimic the betta’s natural environment. Once I started adding it to my guy’s water, their colors brightened, they seemed more active…of course it could just be in my mind
You may be able to find it at your local pet store - the brand I use calls it Black Water Expert instead of Extract.
IF your pH is too low…there are chemicals you can use to increase the pH of the water (you can get them at the pet store - it’s called pH Up I believe) but I wouldn’t add too much if you decided to use it. Bettas are pretty hardy little guys and can do well in a range of pH levels. Unless your pH ends up being 5 or 9 I wouldn’t be terribly concerned

Go to your favorite pet store or a local Walmart and get a pH kit. While you’re there pick up the additives that will allow you to adjust the pH.
PH is the acidity level of the water. 7.0 is neutral, and Betta Splendoras like their water about 6.8. Keep clean water in the tank and plenty of light and your betta will be OK.
