Hoyt Buck was the founder of Buck knives, the famous American manufacturer of knives and other outdoor equipments. The earliest knives were hand made by Hoyt himself. Their folding lock blade knife, Buck folding Hunter model 110 came out in 1964 and became very popular. This knife had a 3 ¾ inch blade, with wooden handles and brass bolsters. This knife was much imitated later. Other popular knives by Buck knives have been Buckmaster, M9 Bayonet, and Nighthawk. Buckmaster is a survival knife with a 7.5 inch blade. Its handle is hollow which can be used for storage. The Nighthawk was a fixed blade knife and has a 6.5 inch blade.

They manufacture small utility folding knives, hunting and fishing knives also. The survival knives by Fallkniven have longer blades. The knives that they make for military purposes are compact ones with a non-reflective blade surface.
